This client received the verbal attendance warning at the center.
Warnings are given to students whose cumulative attendance rate drops below 80% (85% in NY). For instance, if a student attends 100% week 1 and 75% week 2, the cumulative average is 87.5% and a warning is not needed. If, on the other hand, the student attends 100% on week 1 and 40% week 2, the cumulative average will be 70%, and a warning will be necessary.
A series of three warnings are issued before a student is dismissed from KIC for poor attendance.
The first warning is verbal, following by two written warning letters. The student will be given two weeks between warnings to improve attendance. Improvements are defined as attending 80/ 85% or better during the two-week period, although 100% is expected.
For all students the final warning letter is given to the student when the student fails to improve attendance within the three warnings (total of 6 weeks). F-1 students are then terminated in SEVIS citing ¡°Unauthorized Drop Below Full Course Load.¡± |
